Eat

Rachel's next word was 'Eat'.

Rachel:

Me:

Turns out trying to hang up giant pieces of cardboard food in Ipswich town centre at night isn't that easy due to interruptions from passers by and a lack of good lighting near any trees, hence the park railings. We decided it was a tough decision and called in an outside judge, Rachel won.

Sale 2 - Marchesi 1.

Concealed

The next day I came up with the word 'Concealed'.

Rachel:

Me:

The second video was sort of part of my submission, but as it was a joint video made by Alex and myself, it sort of didn't count. We just got a bit carried away with the video camera.

Sale 1 - Marchesi 1.

Marchesi Vs. Sale

Long time no change due to extreme laziness and lack of motivation. Easter rolled around and after a ... less productive spring term at college, Rachel Sale and myself decided to have an ongoing 'battle' in the first week of the easter holidays. The premise was to each come up with a different word on alternate days and for both participants to come up with a response to that word in their format of choice.

Rachel:

Me:

The first word was 'Clean', but I failed miserably as I had completely forgotten about the challenge until half an hour before the deadline - whereas Rachel came up with a brilliant animation. Sale 1 - Marchesi 0.

Successful Lino

New Print Design

For silkscreening, if I can ever manage to coat a screen without messing everything up. Hopefully to work as a 2 colour print on paper and possibly t-shirts.

Failed Printing

I decided to try making use of the print room at college and use lino printing to continue some of my typographic work, though this is the first attempt and it only clicked that I had carved the lino block back to front when I first inked up, but decided to carry on anyway just to try it out. I have since re-cut the block and re-printed, but as the inks are oil based it will be another day or so before they are completely dry. My hands feel pretty battered from all the carving and slips of the tool... I also got a new fish eye extension lens which has re-newed my photo taking habits.

London Art Fair & Design Blogs

Over the Christmas holidays I got a bit obsessed with design blogs, which spread to interior design and DIY craft ideas, I think it all relates to DIY culture etc, its so interesting to see the way people can take something really old and beaten up/ugly then turn it into something aesthetically pleasing and functional. Or just make amazing things in general. Decor8, Design*Sponge, and More Ways to Waste Time are particularly good that I have found/read so far. This is all on top of blogs such as Monster Munch, Indie NC, FFFFOUND!, Fecal Face, OMG! Posters and quite a few more.

Burnt toast map.

I think this is a Swoon etching.

Michele del Campo - my new favourite painter. Kind of reminds me of Conor Harrington.

Geir Moseid

Kirsty got us free tickets to the London Art Fair in Angel this evening. It was so good, unfortunately I only found the section I really liked just as it was closing, heres some of my favourites, more on Flickr.
